a PASSION for Events

Jeremy White and Peter Harder hold the world record for the most chairs stacked in Jeremy's ute, which stands at 71.

Some people would say that Jeremy was in touch with his feminine side. He was creative, sensitive, a snappy dresser, noticed when you had your hair done and couldn't back a trailer to save himself.

He thought that large structural items could be attached by sky hooks and that you could build a house with cable ties and gaffa tape. His "Man Tool" (Leather man) and "Man Straps" (Ockie Straps) caused him several injuries, and he called in the experts when it came to tying knots.

But Jeremy White could work like a man on a mission, on multiple fronts when it came to building events. Charged like the Energiser bunny, fuelled on lollies, latte, red bull, zero and water he would buzz all over Burnie collecting, delivering, measuring, moving, chatting, communicating, joking, laughing, encouraging, texting, calling, selling and positively touching lives.

He'd sell the vision and get people involved; he had an energy and passion for building amazing and accessable community events that encouraged participation, good health, good values and belonging.

It is hard to think of any Burnie event since December 2002 that has not been touched in some way by Jeremy White. He could have been involved anywhere. He may have delivered their chairs, helped them through the paper process, introduced Peter Brock for them or negotiated their next five years funding package.

The Skilled Burnie Ten, B&E 321 Go!, A Night on the Terrace, Burnie Shines, New Years Day Sports, Ten Days on the Island, Targa Tasmania, The Burnie Show, and many more event organizers would testify that their contact with Jeremy had made a significant difference to their organization.

Even though he was a sports fanatic, Jeremy got (and gave) the most joy when he worked on events from his heart. The love jobs. Ali's wedding, The Volunteers Night, Peters wedding, Tracey's 40th, school fundraisers and Jessie's Night. Jeremy's generous spirit touched and changed many lives.

A special thankyou to the Sponsors of "A Passion for Events"
Leather Man, Auto Barn, Eveready Batteries, McDonalds, Red Bull, Coca Cola, Due South and Boags (because it seemed that Jeremy could get them to sponsor anything).
